We are fortunate to have a wonderful swimming pool on site. We are eco-friendly here in the Hibernian Hotel and we have one of the very few Rain Water pools in the country. Use of the rain pool is complimentary for all hotel residents. We harvest rain and use it to feed our swimming pool. The rain water is treated with UV and it is fully tested to ensure it is safe to swim in, the rain pool provides a much nicer swimming experience for you as we need to add very little chlorine to ensure its safety for our swimmers. We advise you to check out the current pool timetable before you visit.
Our in house gymnasium is perfect to work out those stresses and keep you on top of your training while you are away. The gymnasium is open to all residents over 16 and is fully equipped with Technogym equipment, with our fully qualified and friendly instructors on hand to help if you need it.
Over the past few years Cork County Council have developed the Castle Park Walk, a beautiful walk along the banks of the River Blackwater, with a footpath all the way. You can go to the rivers edge in places where you can teach your children to skim stones or if your brave enough you can dip your toes. It has some beautiful scenery along the way with loads of open spaces for the children to burn off all their energy.
We are extremely lucky in Mallow to have not one castle but two, the original was burned in the 1600's and a new more modern castle was built in the grounds just adjacent. The old castle ruins are still there and are a sight to behold, both castles can be viewed from outside while you amble in the gardens, take your picture with a dragon or watch the birds frolic in the water font.
While ambling around the castle grounds, keep an eye out for the herd of White Deer one of only two in Europe. A gift from Queen Elizabeth 1st of two deer they have grown into a herd and are a great attraction for young and old alike.
Stands tall and proud at the end of Mallow, close to the castle. Renovated recently and now home to offices. It is of the same Tudor style as the Hibernian Hotel and has a fully working clock that chimes on the hour.
As you head from the clock house along the Spa Road, keep an eye out for the Lions Heads and the famous hot Mallow springs in Tip O'Neill park, you will see the steam rise from the springs on the colder days. In days gone by the Mallow Spa was visited by people from all over Europe to enjoy and bath in the springs.
